What's the point to be seen as smart- to impress people, to be seen as a leader? It's not always possible to guage this without the willingness of the subject- or is it? Is it undesirable to be known as intelligent? Is it smarter to just be what people expect of us- as a rule- as long as we get what we want?|||the best guage for intelligence is good ole horse sense. just trust your judgement and start speaking to them. even an illiterate person could be the next genius or greatest inventor.
give a man 2 shovels and let em try both, a small one, and a big 1. he has to finish the job of digging a hole 5'deep by 2.5'x4'
see which shovel he chooses to use. wait for 30 seconds to make your decision before reading on.
now which one do you want or both and why? mine is the small one. ill work at a brisk pace, barely enough to breath hard or get my heart pumping, wont break a sweat and be done in under 30 minutes, more like 10-15 minutes. because the small spade takes less effort to use, its easier to move and lift because it only holds about 60% of the load of the big 1. now you use the big 1 and ill see you when im dead. its heavy, no lifting leverage, and youll get tired. ill use the big shovel and still finish about the same time, but be half dead.
so you see you can use a long neck beer as an intelligence test, just hide the opener.|||There are a lot of different types of "smart". The tests are simply gates put in place to manage privileges.
