I'm moving into a new condo and in need of furniture (sofa, dining table, etc) Is it smart to buy it all at one time with a credit card or buy my furniture little by little?|||Just be careful on how much you pay and make a limit on how much you need. If you use the credit card too much then you will be paying higher fees for your credit card and you will be debt if you use it way too much and don't pay.|||Yes only if you can get 0 % interest for an extended period of time. You must also determine if you can make payments large enough over the period of the financing to pay off the furniture by the time the financing is up. If the sofa costs $2400 %26amp; you are financed for a year you must budget yourself to pay $200 a month to not incur any financing fees.
http://www.bigmodern.com|||not really. save up and pay cash. but if u must pay more to pay it off faster, and dont fall for the dont pay until 2008. chaces r someone will spill something on it and u will be paying for stained furniture|||There is nothing wrong with taking out a store credit card; it may entitle you to a bit of a discount. But if you have a suitable general purpose credit card, you could use it instead. Buy the essentials, but no more; add stuff later as you can afford it. With any credit card, it is essential to pay the entire balance owing every month, otherwise the interest charges will eat your lunch -- and your dinner, too.|||Personally, what my bf %26amp; I did when we first moved into our own place, we researched all the deals that were out. I LOVE the deals of 12 months interest free, 'coz you can take everything home %26amp; have 12 months to pay. We didn't skimp on anything either, if we wanted it, we got it!! But we stuck to our budget %26amp; paid more than the minimum amount (atleast 1/12 of the total) to make sure we didn't have to pay a lump sum at the end... Read the terms %26amp; conditions though, 'coz a lot of the time there are fees %26amp; charges... I'm with GE %26amp; they're pretty good with interest free periods, as long as you pay it all before the 12 months is up. I wouldn't go into a store card as they tend to charge up to 30% on interest. That's my suggestion. Credit cards, unless you know how to get the best out of them, don't use them.. Look into interest free!! :)|||Well how I started would be the best of all
bought pretty well all my furtiner from secondhand from somwhere if you hunt around you can get some darn good second hand stuff for real cheap.
Over a period of time I saved up and paid cash for replacments as I needed them.
Credit cards a massive trap like 19-25% instrest
if dont pay in time.
Pay later deals are far far far worse like the hour past the deadline they wake huge charges and intrest on them like belive it a whopping 45% and up on one I have seen
Pay cash for good secondhand stuff for starters for essientles and cash for replacments over time best way|||I would buy it little by little personally.
Thrift stores have amazing buys too! You can get some fantastic stuff, vintage/futuristic stuff for cheap!
Store credit cards are pricy. The interest rate that accompanies them is sick, like 19.99 to 22%, unless you plan on paying it off within 2 months, I would not do it.
Pace yourself, don't stress out! No one expects you have everything done and in place within 72 hours after move in.
Good luck, and CONGRATS!!!|||NO! Furniture stores make most of their profits from financing furniture. You will overpay for the furniture and then continue to overpay everytime you pay the huge interest every month. They count on the fact that you will probably make the minimum monthly payment, which is almost ALL interest.
Instead, go to www.craigslist.org and buy it from an individual. It will be used but you can get some great stuff for cheap. Not to mention, you won't have to pay sales tax either.|||The problem with store credit cards "no payment for 6 montths" deal is that as soon as the 6 months is up, you have to pay the entire balance off in full immediately or they will charge you interest on the whole amount for the last 6 months. If there is a chance that you may not have the entire amount to pay, then you will be slammed with a huge interest payment added on and it suddenly is not such a good deal after all. Basically, unless you have a lot of money set aside to pay off the balance the STAY AWAY from store credit cards. Try craigslist.com or freecycle.org for cheap or free furniture, or just buy it a piece at a time. If you buy it all at once you will be paying for it way down the road, long after it is getting out of style and you are tired of it!
