I'm planning on getting a new phone. I'm trying to decide between a Blackberry Curve 8530 and the Samsung Galaxy Indulge. I currently have a Blackberry Curve 8330. I've never had an Android, so I'm wondering if they are smart phones or are they just feature phones trying to act like smart phones? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!|||Any handset running android is widely considered to be a smartphone. In fact, the Samsung Galaxy models all run Android. And I'll admit I'm being biased, but I'd recommend a galaxy over an 8530. Blackberry's just don't offer the same experience you get on iPhones or android phones which is considered to be amazing by comparison.|||All Android phones are smart phones. So are all newer Blackberries, all Palms, all iPhones. Basically, what makes a phone a smart phone is if it has all of the following features (some feature phones have some of these features, but only smart phones have all of them):
- Large touch screen
- Full keyboard (real or just on-screen)
- Lots of available apps that are made by many different companies
- Full-featured web browser
- WiFi + 3G or 4G high speed access
- GPS, compass, orientation sensors|||The 3 main operating systems are android, ios and blackberry os. they are all considered smart phones in their own right. from smarter phones to dumber it would be android, blackberry then ios. In my opinion. Android are generally made for touch screen phones. Blackberries have the traditional qwerty keyboards. Recently Blackberry released os6 that makes for a better touch interface on the torch. Androids are becoming easier to develop apps for and the market is slowly bridging the gap between the itunes app store. Droids are just more fun and interactive to use than blackberries. and there is a rumor that android will be receiving bbm with limited functionality, but bbm nonetheless
(Theres also Symbian, but i dont see a future in that lol)
also RIM owns bbm. the older you get the less you will want bbm, ive grown tired of msging ppl back asap and when they see the "r" beside their msg they become depressed and insecure when i dont reply right away. bbm is basically the new msn messenger for phones. if bbm is released for android, i will only want to have it for my blackberry contacts who opt out of unlimited texting.|||well if you're asking this question, i suppose you're not a bbm addict. cuz a bbm addict always buys a bb. you should go for android then, its better in every way than a blackberry except it doesnt have bbm, its just a rumor that android is getting bbm with limited usage, but limited usage wouldnt do for me. plus, i doubt thats possible. blackberry is not that stupid, the whole world knows blackberry is revolutionay cuz of BBM. they wouldnt do such a mistake. nobody would buy a blackberry if iOS n android get bbm. but if bbm aint a prob, android is the best. android has whatsapp which nokia iphone blackberry and android has. its like bbm. i bought a samsung wave s8500 and now i regret it that i didnt buy a bb. everyone in highschool has bbm. EVERYONE. this sucks for me cuz i couldve had all chicks in my hand with bbm :p anyway, its still incredible apart from the bbm part. its not android though its bada and has incredible gaming experience. you can have samsung wave II as an option too. amazing browser and the keypad, whoa, i type faster on wave than on my pc keyboard. im on my phone right now. well thats enough from my side, best of luck!|||They are different things.
A smartphone is made for internet, email.
Android is the user interface that is used ON a smartphone.
Example:
Lg Quantum is a SMARTPHONE that runs Windows 7
Droid (series) is a smartphone that runs ANDROID
Now also, there are different operating systems that run over Android.
Motoblur TouchWiz HTC Sense|||They are both smart-phones, android uses android network and market and blackberry uses blackerry.... If your into all the fancy apps and stuff I would go with an android.|||the software the phone uses difference between iphone and droids etc or the operating system example wat ur cpu runs intel or w,e u may have
